During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Gansu province achieved historic progress in promoting the socioeconomic development of ethnic regions and advancing the cause of ethnic unity, with such efforts consistently ranking among the top among all provinces nationwide.

Gansu has upheld the Party's overall leadership in ethnic affairs, integrating the fostering of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation into theoretical study, cadre training, and the education system.

It has established dedicated assessment indicators within the performance evaluation of city and prefecture leadership, constructing a new working framework led by the Party with multi-party coordination.

Through initiatives such as the "Pomegranate Seeds" education project and 22 consecutive years of ethnic unity promotion campaigns, efforts to foster a sense of community have been fully integrated into school curricula and practices.

Meanwhile, signature events like the "Pomegranate Cup" cultural performances and ethnic minority traditional sports games have enriched cultural identity.

The province actively promotes extensive interactions, exchanges, and integration among all ethnic groups in China by developing featured demonstration towns and deepening the creation of ethnic unity and progress. It has established 85 national-level demonstration zones and units, integrating ethnic unity with cultural tourism.

Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, central and provincial fiscal authorities have allocated 252.26 billion yuan ($36.25 billion) in subsidies to ethnic regions and invested over 84 billion yuan in infrastructure development.

This support has greatly enhanced transportation networks and public services. Gannan and Linxia prefectures have achieved 15 years of tuition-free education, with key educational indicators surpassing the national average.

Today, socioeconomic development in ethnic regions is steadily advancing in Gansu, and the sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security among people of all ethnic groups continues to grow, painting a harmonious picture of unity and progress.
