The facility agriculture park in Wangjiadun village, Linze county, Zhangye, Gansu province, was bustling with activity on Dec 9. Farmers moved between warm greenhouses, packing freshly picked ripe tomatoes into neat boxes. These vegetables, still carrying the warmth of the greenhouse, were quickly dispatched to markets across the region, stimulating winter consumption.

Despite the deep winter cold, the vegetable greenhouses in Wangjiadun village are filled with warmth and vibrant greenery. More than 20 varieties, including tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, are currently in their peak harvesting period.

In recent years, Linze county has been taking advantage of its local resources to develop facility agriculture. The county has established 15 standardized green vegetable production bases, driving the total vegetable cultivation area to 161,000 mu (10,733 hectares). Since the start of this winter, over 34,000 metric tons of vegetables have been harvested from solar greenhouses across the county, with more than 15,000 tons sold to distant markets. This not only enriches the dining tables of residents in other regions but also brings tangible income growth to local farmers during the cold season.
