During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Gansu province witnessed a robust recovery in cultural and tourism markets, receiving a total of 29.73 million visits and generating 18.34 billion yuan ($2.57 billion) in tourism revenue. The province's eight 5A-level scenic spots, together with the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, welcomed 1.43 million visits. Historic cities along the ancient Silk Road, such as Lanzhou, Jiuquan, and Zhangye, were among the most popular destinations, while Qingyang and Wuwei also reported notable tourist growth.
Traditional performances and red tourism emerged as major highlights. In Qingyang, the dance drama Legend on the Silk Road drew full houses, while displays like paper-cutting, embroidery, and local lamb delicacies offered immersive experiences. In Pingliang and Wuwei, wartime exhibitions and patriotic concerts stirred visitors' national pride.

Tourist experiences ranged from urban landmarks to rural retreats. Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, inspired by the flying apsaras, became the first stop for photos. Qinwangchuan National Wetland Park offered family-friendly nature education, while the UN-listed "Best Tourism Village" of Zhagana in Gannan attracted road-trippers with its autumn colors.
Multiple cities introduced visitor-friendly measures to enhance the travel experience. Dunhuang opened public parking spaces, offered free city bus rides, and provided affordable meals in government canteens. Jiayuguan launched bundled ticket packages for flights and attractions, while Wuwei set up free tasting stations for local snacks.
During the eight-day holiday, Gansu not only attracted large crowds but also succeeded in offering high-quality, culturally rich experiences, setting a strong example for integrated, sustainable tourism development.
