In advancing the "leading center" for Dunhuang studies, the Academy has continuously progressed in compiling archaeological reports, organizing documents, and conducting cross-civilizational research. It has published over 150 academic journals and monographs, including Dunhuang Research.
The Academy has also promoted the digital transformation of cultural relics, developing automated collection and storage systems and establishing the "Digital Dunhuang — Open Material Library." The relevant technologies have been extended to 26 heritage sites across nine provinces.
Two of the Academy's projects — the monitoring and early warning platform and the "Digital Sutra Cave" database platform — were included in the World Internet Conference Case Collection on Digitalization of Cultural Heritage in September 2025.
