Gansu's industries move towards green development
Gansu province, once considered a barren land, is injecting new momentum into green development with its unique resources, geography, and culture.
Gansu's traditional industries have achieved an impressive transformation through green development.
Gansu Dongxing Jiayu New Material in Jiayuguan is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gansu Dongxing Aluminum of Jiuquan Iron and Steel (Group), or JISCO. The company has utilized JISCO's self-owned power plants and green energy to reduce production costs.
Elsewhere, the Zhangye Low Carbon Glass Industrial Park, focusing on the production of low-carbon and green daily glass products, has abandoned traditional high-pollution coal-fired furnaces and adopted full electric melting and pure oxygen combustion technologies, which has greatly reduced energy consumption.
Dunhuang, relying on its abundant solar thermal resources and advantageous geographical location, boasts enormous potential for the development of the new energy industry. China's first 20-megawatt photovoltaic concession demonstration project and China's first million-kilowatt-level photovoltaic demonstration base have been built there.

In an effort to boost the rural economy, the Wanmu Organic Vegetable Industrial Park in Dangzhai town, Zhangye, focuses on organic planting and integrates smart agriculture and ecological circular agriculture.
By developing a model centered on organic agriculture and the ecological cycle, manure and tail vegetables will be converted into organic fertilizers to achieve green and sustainable development.
