Gansu's Gulang county unveils greener future through ecological restoration

Gulang county in Gansu province, located in the eastern section of the Hexi Corridor and southern section of the Tengger Desert, is striving to become a demonstration county for ecological governance.
The county has completed 1.11 million mu (74,280 hectares) of afforestation and greening, while also preliminarily treating 2.39 million mu of sanded land.
The vegetation coverage rate in the sand area has reached 36.96 percent, an increase of 5.36 percentage points compared to 2019.
The county has also taken actions to implement urban greening, improving the quality of the living environment.
The county has completed a total of 104,000 mu of urban greening and beautification, provided more than 16 million seedlings for planting, built 161 rural small amusement parks and 11 urban green spaces, and added 250,000 square meters of green space throughout the county.
It has also built the first ecological water storage tank in the province, regulating and ensuring ecological water use through measures such as water system connectivity and agricultural water conservation.
