Seek roots and worship ancestors in Gansu's Fuxi Temple
The 2025 Fuxi Chinese Ancestors Memorial Ceremony will be held in Tianshui, Gansu province, on June 21. Many tourists are visiting the city's Fuxi Temple to explore the culture of Fuxi, the legendary ancestor to Chinese civilization.
Tianshui is the birthplace of Fuxi and Fuxi culture, making it an invaluable piece of Chinese history. Fuxi Temple in the city's Qinzhou district is the most complete and oldest Fuxi temple in China. Outside the grand Fuxi Temple is the bustling Fuxi City historic district.

Today, the annual public worship ceremony for Fuxi has become a grand gathering for Chinese people worldwide to trace their roots and worship their ancestors, as well as an important platform for preserving and promoting traditional Chinese culture.
"Fuxi Temple is a combination of culture and architectural art. It uses space as a medium to allow tourists to perceive specific storylines and the meaning behind Fuxi culture," said Liu Fuxing, associate research librarian of the Tianshui Museum.
Fuxi Temple has undergone a total of 12 repairs in its lifetime. Since the 1980s, three protection and restoration projects have been carried out.
The Tianshui Museum also combines Fuxi culture with study tours. Since September of last year, Fuxi Temple has been the subject of 110 research activities aimed at promoting Fuxi culture.
