Covering an area of 4,133 hectares, this wetland ecosystem is a vital component of the fragile ecosystem in the inland arid region of the Zhangye oasis.
Moreover, it serves as a green defense line for the ecological security of the Zhangye oasis and the middle and lower reaches of the Heihe River.
