June 5 is World Environment Day, so let's look at how enterprises in Lanzhou New Area, Northwest China's Gansu province, are contributing to ecological and environmental protection and embarking on a new path of green industrial development.

Lanzhou Foci Pharmaceutical received green-factory certification in 2023. Since its relocation to Foci Pharmaceutical Technology Industrial Park in Lanzhou New Area in 2018, the company has achieved clean and intelligent production processes for everything from medicinal herb processing, concentration, and extraction to formulation packaging and quality control.

"As a pharmaceutical production company, the extracted residue of traditional Chinese medicine is non-toxic and harmless," said Feng Xiaoyun, deputy general manager of the company, adding that through cooperation with qualified organic fertilizer manufacturers, the company can convert medicinal residues into organic fertilizers.

With green and low-carbon development becoming a global trend, hydrogen energy has received much attention. Lanzhou LS Group is promoting the development of the hydrogen energy industry through technological research and development, while also improving the quality of the equipment needed to produce hydrogen energy.

The company has focused on lines of hydrogen energy and fuel cells as well as ammonia hydrogen fusion new energy technology to carry out technical research and development and promote the marketization of hydrogen energy.

Dedicated efforts were also made by the company to step up the promotion of the hydrogen energy industry, including building a dedicated hydrogen refueling station for bus only.
