Located in the southeast of Gansu province, near the western part of Qinling Mountain and the middle reaches of the Weihe River, Tianshui city is an important node city of the Silk Road Economic Belt and a sub-core city of Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration. There are five counties and two districts under its jurisdiction, which covers a total area of 14,300 sq km and a population of 3.72 million. Blessed with profound history and beautiful scenery, Tianshui is a famous historical and cultural city, and an excellent tourist hub in China.

Tianshui, named after the legend that "water comes from heaven", is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, with more than 8,000 years of cultural records, over 3,000 years of written records and over 2,700 years of city construction. It is the hometown of Fuxi, Nvwa and the Yellow Emperor. The "Five Major Cultures" represented by Fuxi culture, Dadiwan culture, early Qin culture, Maijishan grotto culture and the ancient battlefield culture of the three Kingdoms, constitute the rich historical and cultural resources of Tianshui. Fuxi Temple and Guatai Mountain, where Fuxi created the Eight Diagrams, is a sacred place for Chinese at home and abroad to seek their roots and worship their ancestors. Maijishan Scenic spot is a national 5A tourist scenic spot. Maijishan Caves, with the laudatory name of "Oriental Sculpture Museum", is one of the four major grottoes in China and a world cultural heritage. The Maijishan Caves, together with Daxiang Mountain, Shuiliandong Cave and Lashao Temple, constitutes the "Grottoes Art Corridor" of the eastern section of the ancient Silk Road. At present, there were 1,807 cultural relic protection units in Tianshui, including 21 at the national level and 58 at the provincial level. There were 228 scenic spots, one 5A tourist destination and eight 4A scenic spots.

Tianshui is an important equipment manufacturing base in Gansu province. Its traditional industries include electronic information, electrical appliances, machinery manufacturing, medicine and food, and building materials. Its integrated circuit packaging and testing, CNC machine tools, medium and high voltage switchgear fields enjoy a strong reputation throughout the country. The city is also developing emerging industries such as new materials and new energy, while accelerating the layout and development of future industries such as artificial intelligence and digital economy.
