Beef noodle-making competition heats up in Gansu

The second Lanzhou beef noodle making competition kicked off in Qilihe district, Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, on Sept 15, gathering 55 contestants from 29 teams.
The competition was divided into two parts: on-site food preparation and real-time scoring. Participants were required to make a bowl of beef noodles, from kneading the dough to completion, within a time limit of 20 minutes.
Lanzhou beef noodles, one of the 10 best-rated noodles in China, is a specialty of Lanzhou city, Gansu province. A traditional bowl must have the following ingredients and colors, in addition to beef: white radish, red chili oil, green coriander and leek, and yellow noodles.
After intense competition, the winners were announced, including a team and an individual being awarded the first prize, 3 teams and 3 individuals awarded the second prize, and 9 teams and 9 individuals awarded the third prize.
The competition is expected to enhance the skill of practitioners and promote the development of the beef noodle industry.
