A new drama — Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed — was presented on Sunday night in Dunhuang, Gansu province, known worldwide for its Mogao Caves, with their sculptures and murals.
The drama, which integrates elements from the murals, was created according to a mural of thousand-armed and thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) in one of the caves. It was played by artists from the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe.
The drama brought audiences beautiful dances, moving melodies and gorgeous stages showing the beauty of Dunhuang culture.
It will be presented in Dunhuang about 100 times and then go on tour to other places, including Beijing and Taiwan.
