A self-drive tour promotional activity, sponsored by the Tourism website Mafengwo and the Gansu provincial culture and tourism bureau, will be launched on Sept 28, featuring a range of different leisure activities, such as desert camping, grassland hiking and intangible cultural heritage viewing.

A hundred road-trip enthusiasts were invited to try out the given routes and share travel photos and videos along the way. According to Mafengwo, short and medium distance travel is getting more popular in post-pandemic era. The event, which is setting up outdoor gameplay facilities and services in scenic areas, is expected to develop new scenarios in Gansu's existing cultural tourism resources.

The event will also introduce a professional photography team to capture more details about the accommodation, food, and independent travel guides.
