Gansu sees GDP rise 4.2% in H1

Facing the combined impact of a recurring coronavirus epidemic and a deep global economic recession, Northwest China's Gansu province achieved growth in the first half year of 2022.

Gansu saw its gross domestic product increase by 4.2 percent year-on-year, hitting 523.53 billion yuan ($77.69 billion), according to local statistics authorities.

The added value of the province's primary, secondary and tertiary industries grew by 7.6 percent, 4.1 percent, and 3.8 percent, respectively.

Also, Gansu's investment and foreign trade maintained robust growth during the first six months.

The fixed-asset investment increased by 11.1 percent, with project investment up by 12.8 percent, manufacturing investment up by 36.7 percent, and real estate development investment increasing by 6.3 percent.

The province's total import and export value amounted to 32.58 billion yuan ($5.0 billion) during the period, a year-on-year increase of 24.6 percent. Specifically, the export value was 6.16 billion yuan, up 49.4 percent, and the import value was 26.42 billion yuan, up 20.0 percent.

The added value of industries above designated size rose by 7.1 percent year-on-year. Among them, the mining industry and the manufacturing industry presented good performance.

From January to May, profits of the province's industrial firms above designated size achieved 32.14 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.8 percent.

In addition, the added value of the top 10 ecological industries in Gansu reached 129.34 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.0 percent, accounting for 24.7 percent of the province's GDP.
