China will accelerate the construction of infrastructure projects, including water conservation, transportation, underground utility tunnels and large wind power and photovoltaic bases in the Gobi Desert and other arid regions, the country's top economic regulator shared on Tuesday.
Ou Hong, deputy secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission, said China's economic recovery garnered pace in May and major economic indicators saw improvements, along with the better containment of the COVID-19 pandemic and a series of pro-growth policies to shore up the economy.
China's economy has shown strong resilience and has ample room for growth, Ou said, emphasizing that the country has the confidence to overcome difficulties and challenges in economic operations and ensure the stable, healthy and sustainable development of the economy.
The country will also speed up efforts to implement a package of stimulus policy measures, like boosting the sales of big-ticket items like automobiles and home appliances, so as to further unleash the consumption potential, Ou added.
