In June, the Gobi Desert has experienced a sustained period of hot temperatures. People in Dunhuang, Gansu province like to walk by the Danghe River to escape the summer heat.

The river bank has a dense growth of green trees, and the water is clear and clean. When night falls, the oasis in the midst of urban sprawl is aglow with glittering lights decorating the buildings by the river. Viewed from a height, the waterscape of the desert is like a dreamland.
