During the recent Qingming Festival, flower appreciation and spring outings attracted many visitors to the foot of Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang, Gansu province, as the region was inundated by a puffy ocean of apricot flowers.
The apricot trees usually bloom in late March and early April and reach maturity in July. Their golden yellow fruits are a favorite due to their luscious and rich flavor. Jam, preserves and beverages made of apricots are staples in many homes.
