Established in September 2013, Lanzhou Oriental Canada Secondary School (LOCSS) is a cooperatively-run school approved by the British Columbia Ministry of Education, Canada, and Gansu Provincial Department of Education.
LOCSS has completely introduced an education system in accordance with Canadian high school standards, featuring small classes (fewer than 25 students each), and three-year duration. All the school curriculum is taught in English and set according to the syllabus and regulations established by the British Columbia Ministry of Education.
To ensure high teaching quality, principals and teachers are certified by British Columbia Ministry of Education. Students will receive the British Columbia high school graduation certificate (known as the Dogwood Diploma) if they pass the graduation exams after the completion of the three-year Canadian high school curriculum.
Students who registered in British Columbia and then graduated from LOCSS can apply to well-known universities around the world using their transcript issued by LOCSS, just as Canadian high school graduates do.
Besides routine programs and courses, the school also provides clubs and a variety of activities for the all-round development of the students. During summer vacation, it provides grade 10 students with a specially designed 30-day summer camp, including credit courses at local high schools and homestays with local families. Meanwhile, grade 11 students go on a 13-day volunteer teaching project.
